Personal Profile: My husband, Peter, and I emigrated from the UK to Perth WA in 1981. Five years later, after having twins and feeling the need to do something creative, I began papermaking and later pursued other paper crafts. Recycled papermaking combines my lifelong passion for paper and a love of recycling and reusing.
In 2004 Peter and I came to Tasmania where I discovered Iris Folding, a technique which began in Holland about 15 years ago. Iris folding uses papers such as insides of used envelopes, florist papers, paperbags, magazines and wrapping paper. I also make iris folding pictures to order.
I have have taught both iris folding and papermaking through Adult Education and teaches these and other papercraft workshops at my home in Kettering.
I began doing encaustic art in 1995. This technique which uses hot wax originated with the Ancient Egyptians but was not used for many hundreds of years. These days a travelling iron and artists waxes are used to create the pictures.
